Mogilla House

BUILDER — Owner / Builder + Hallbar Projects

Located on the ridge of a working farm in the Bega Valley, the roofline of dwelling takes inspiration from its backdrop in Mt Mogilla.

The selection of zincalume cladding pays homage to the farm sheds of the region and locally sourced timber cladding to the building’s recesses adds warmth and homeliness.

A central living area, with vaulted ceiling, acts as the fulcrum to the design, with four pods that intersect on each corner providing services and bedrooms. The central area takes advantage of the 360-degree views from the site across the valley, down to the property’s orchard, and towards Mt Mogilla. Courtyards on all four sides of the living zone provide direction connection to the landscape and a place to shelter depending on the weather conditions.

This home was an immensely rewarding collaboration between architect, owner/builder and their local contractors.
